Sr. Compliance Manager (1492)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Trade Compliance Manager to oversee our energy commodity surveillance operations.  This individual is responsible for trade and communication surveillance, developing internal compliance reporting, providing compliance advice and assistance, implementing annual and ad-hoc education programs and quick hit training, and ensuring regulatory filings are made timely.  This position will report to the Director of Compliance. 

 

The successful candidate’s primary responsibility will be trade and communications surveillance.  Trade surveillance will require a deep understanding of the physical and financial products Aramco Trading Americas transacts as well as a robust understanding of the regulatory landscape.  The individual will be responsible for building report with the trade floor, providing regulatory guidance and training on external and internal policies and driving Aramco’s culture of compliance.  The individual will ensure the results of their analysis are communicated clearly, accurately and on a timely basis to the Director of Compliance, Legal, and Management as necessary. 

 

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be accountable for the following:

  • Monitor’s trade and communication surveillance via 3rd party systems with a strong focus on physical, derivatives, and platt’s eWindow transactions.  
  • Monitors, analyzes, and reports on relevant external market developments
  • Review’s business practices, drafts/improves compliance policies, procedures, manuals and/or forms
  • Works with other departments to help ensure compliance with regulations and rules set by various external regulatory agencies
  • Assists the Director of Compliance with developing and executing the overall Trading Compliance strategy, which includes helping with:
    • Identifying and evaluating compliance risks across the organization
    • Developing Compliance policy and procedures
    • Developing and testing controls
    • Developing and administrating Compliance training materials
  • Provides advice and assistance to employees about regulations, company policies, procedures; escalates to Compliance management or other functional areas as needed
  • Responds to ad-hoc queries from the management team
  • Assists with regulatory inquires
  • Provides day-to-day support of the monitoring, tracking and enforcement of trade compliance polices
  • Ensures proper execution of existing surveillance controls
  • Identifies compliance control gaps, ineffective controls, and remediate by developing reasonable surveillance processes and controls as needed
  • Develops successful relationships with staff and management in the Front and Back offices, in order to become a Trusted Advisor

Experience and Qualifications Required:
Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university (or equivalent work experience)
  • Minimum of ten (10) years professional experience
  • Experience in compliance, trading, risk control, or trading support role
  • Excellent knowledge of two or more of the following physical/financial energy markets Crude Oil, Refined Products, and/or Chemicals
  • Strong understanding of trading instruments (futures, swaps, options, etc.); trading strategies, and risk concepts (Long/Short, Market/Price, P&L, Operational, Credit, Position Limits, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills including the ability to interact with all levels of staff and management
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving and communications skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in dynamic environment with frequently changing requirements and meet deadlines
  • Maintain composure and uses good judgment under stressful circumstances
  • Effectively prioritize own time and focus on most critical activities
  • Promote and exhibit high ethical standards
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use good judgment related to sensitive matter(s)
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Energy derivatives experience
  • Understanding of physical crude, products, intermediates and chemical markets
  • Proficiency in Tableau, PowerPoint, Access, Business Objects, or comparable applications
     

    Ability to work in an office-based environment, located in downtown Houston, Texas.
