Sr. Hydrogen Lab Scientist (1412)
OVERVIEW:
Aramco Americas is building a new state-of-the-art research center in Houston that will focus on CO2 capture, carbon materials, hydrogen, low carbon-impact liquid fuels, renewables & storage and artificial intelligence in energy. The center will take low TRL research results and develop them to TRL 5-7.
Aramco Americas is seeking senior hydrogen production and transportation specialists to lead interdisciplinary research initiatives focused on low-carbon hydrogen production. Key responsibilities include: Designing and executing experiments to explore novel methods; Proposing improvements on existing processes, including electrolysis, steam reforming, catalytic reforming, gasification and pyrolysis; Engineering and optimizing processes for integration into Aramco’s global operation and affiliate networks. The position involves scientific, developmental, engineering tasks, and hands-on work on pilot and demonstration systems. The idea candidate should have both a strong technical background and proven project management expertise.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Propose and develop novel pathways to produce, separate and transport low-carbon hydrogen from fossil/renewable resources.
Conduct periodic gate review meetings which involves aligning with proponents and Aramco/affiliates engineering.
Formulate objectives, technical scope and requirements for demonstrating hydrogen production and transportation
Determine the development steps, deliverables, and milestones.
Estimate the development schedule, resources, and costs.
Oversee testing and analyze testing results
Conduct pre-FEED (DBSP) level engineering studies.
Detailed engineering, construction, start up, and operation of demonstration systems.
Write technical reports and publications
Mentor junior staff
Maintains and updates his/her working knowledge of applicable state-of- the-art laboratory instrumentation.
Provide and manage a safe, accident-free laboratory environment. Follow all company safety rules in performing job duties.
Lead collaborative research efforts internally (other R&D areas of the company) and externally (academic researchers).
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
PhD Degree in Science/Engineering Discipline as appropriate for the area of expertise for the assigned jobs.
Nine (9) years’ experience in a substantive industrial, technological or laboratory area relevant to the job’s assignment.
Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly and concisely in English at a level required to perform the job as outlined.
Candidate should be comfortable in working independently or part of a project team, frequent project presentation and travel to meetings at conferences and universities. Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette.
