Pilot Plant Engineer (1422)
OVERVIEW:
Aramco Americas is building a new state-of-the-art research center in Houston that will focus on CO2 capture, carbon materials, hydrogen, low carbon-impact liquid fuels, renewables & storage and artificial intelligence in energy. The center will take low TRL research results and develop them to TRL 5-7.
Aramco Americas is seeking an experienced engineer to participate in pilot plant design, oversee construction and operation for multiple application, including low-carbon fuels and hydrogen production. The role involves both development and engineering tasks, and hand-on work on pilot and demonstration systems. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background and some project management skills.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Design pilot plants in collaboration with the technology team including PFD, P&ID, equipment specification.
Participate or lead HAZOP study and have some experience in process safety.
Develop and implement experimental process plans i.e., catalyst scale up, catalytic reaction process and performance testing, CO2 capture and conversion.
Collaborate with stakeholders to develop design of experiment, and design pilot plants.
Supervise and ensure the smooth operation of pilot plants for multiple projects, overseeing both the performance of equipment and the test variables.
Conduct periodic maintenance on pilot plants, identify and troubleshoot issues in the pilot plants.
Train new members and operators.
Formulate and/or participate in formulating objectives, technical scope and requirements for development and demonstration.
Determine the development steps, deliverables, and milestones.
Estimate the development schedule, and resources.
Oversee testing and analyze testing results
Write technical reposts, publication and present at the conferences
Maintains and updates his/her working knowledge of applicable state-of- the-art laboratory instrumentation.
Provide and manage a safe, accident-free laboratory environment. Follow all company safety rules in performing job duties.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
B.S. Degree in Engineering/Science Discipline as appropriate for the area of expertise for the assigned jobs.
Five (5) years’ experience in a substantive industrial, technological or laboratory area relevant to the jobs’ assignment.
Candidates must possess expertise and training in both the lab-scale and pilot-scale process, including process design and walkthrough, equipment operation, and recommendation for process and equipment upgrading.
Proficiency in using equipment for materials screening at the lab-scale and conducting advanced testing in pilot plant environments is essential.
Additional experience in, catalytical reactions, CO2 capture, conversion and utilization, and separation technology etc. will be considered as a plus.
Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly and concisely in English at a level required to perform the job as outlined.
Candidate should be comfortable in working independently or part of a project team, frequent project presentation and travel to meetings at conferences and universities. Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies, and standard business etiquette.
